Budapest – Day 2
Our mission team noted that the sun came out only one time during the entire trip, and that was for an hour or two prior to sunset one evening. Some of the sights we saw as we braved the frigid temperatures in Budapest were the Danube River, St. Stephens Basilica, St. Matthias Church, the Hungarian Parliament Building, the State Opera House, Hero’s Square, the Slzechenyil Spa, the outdoor winter ice skating rink (largest in all of Europe), the Vajdahunyad Castle and the Great Synagogue.
I learned that Hungary was once five times its’ present size, when it was part of the famous Hapsburg Dynasty along with Austria. A gentleman who later translated for me (Chip), explained that Saxons were hired to ward off the Islamic invasion from the east (Istanbul), and they settled east of Romania. After living there for some time, they eventually formed a powerful nation.
The city displayed Jewish artifacts that spotlighted the World War II holocaust. There were old suitcases making a monument of sorts, rocks that represented those who died, and innumerable personal effects that were shown at scenes, in order to remember their tragic years in Europe in the 1930’s and 1940’s. The history of Budapest goes back to ancient times. There are buildings, archeology, and history commemorating the following: The Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire, The Hapsburg Dynasty With Austria, The Ottoman Turk Invasion (The Turks allowed Christianity), The Mongol Invasion, Genghis Khan, The Nazi Occupation, The Jewish Holocaust, The Soviet Communist Occupation, And The Insurrection / Rebellion Of 1956. There Is A Statue Of Ronald Reagan The Liberator. There are many Catholic Churches in Budapest, and the local kings were esteemed and magnified in the Catholic Churches in Hungary. The history is voluminous, profoundly interesting, overwhelming and very detailed.
Later on, the British evening news and CNN called Donald Trump the greatest threat facing Europe. They speak incessantly about Trump. I have not heard English Prime Minister Theresa May even mentioned. These liberal European news stations spoke a lot about Brexit as well.

There were nine people on our mission team, and all were native Texans except for myself. Seven of us preached the Gospel all week. The Romanians are not a people who respond to altar calls. Their emotion and response is demonstrated by saying “amen,” pronounced “ameen.” When under conviction, they will raise their hands and their pastor will follow up after the service. The Romanians are easy to preach to however, and they love revivals and the Word of God the way we enjoy Christian music concerts. Oh that the fires of revival would once again touch our sin sick nation!
The Lord prepared me for the coldness gradually. We had a “cold snap” in south Florida whereby the temperature hung in the 50 degree range prior to our departure. Our connecting flight was in London, England, and the temperature was about 46 degrees. When we exited the airplane in Budapest, Hungary, the weather was in the teens. The beginning of our mission trip featured sight seeing in Budapest, which is a great way to unwind after our long journey to Eastern Europe. I was part of another mission team to Romania in 2005, and touring Budapest was scheduled at the end of our trip. I was taken ill and never able to see the city, hence I was very glad to have this opportunity now.
Budapest yokes together two formerly separate cities: Buda and Pest, on opposite sides of the Danube River. Buda, on the West side of the river is hilly and semi-suburban, and has winding, narrow streets wending their way up into the hills. Pest, on the East side of the river is typical flat Hungarian real estate. We will tour the city tomorrow, and observe the Stephen Church Basilica, the Parliament Building, the Court Building and much more. We will learn of the Nazi occupation, the Soviet occupation, and their freedom which came under the presidency of Ronald Reagan.
You can stay at an ornate hotel for about one hundred dollars a night in Budapest. I took advantage of a huge bathtub that had a rail to hold reading material, and piped in television for the evening news. The people we met were all very gracious and more than hospitable. If my wife and I decide on a trip to Europe, a stopover in England for a few days and Budapest, Hungary would work for me. It is a beautiful and historic city.
On my first evening in Budapest, I ordered Hungarian Goolash. Original, eh? It was very good, and it is basically the same as our beef stew, except pepper is used in place of tomato.
Donald Trump’s immigration ban is the talk of Europe. Europe is very liberal and reminds me of the evening news back home. CNN in Europe is mesmerized by Donald Trump, and BBC covers Donald Trump much more than Britain’s own Prime Minister, Theresa May. It struck me on this trip that the British accent is found everywhere. I experienced it in England of course, and even one of my translators (Chip) in Romania had one. My wife and I were on a cruise to the Western Caribbean four months ago and it seemed like every other person had one! For a relatively small island nation, The British have sure had a global impact.
At the end of the day (literally), it struck me that I would much rather go on a mission trip where it is fifteen degrees, than go to Tahiti. This is very true with me. I would much rather go on a series of mission trips than have an outdoor swimming pool, and am grateful for the choices the good Lord has given us, and the responses He has led my wife and me to make.

This article conveys the brilliance of our Founding Fathers when they established the Electoral College –
MORE ACCURATE PERSPECTIVE
Here are the facts:
Trump won the popular vote in 31 states to her
19 and DC. 62% to her 38%.
Trump led in the total popular vote for all states except California.
Hillary won California 8,753,788 to Trump’s 4,483,810. 61.6% to
33.1% exclusive of the other candidates. Thus California gave Hillary the
popular vote for all states as claimed
by the Democrats and their media stooges.
But deduct her California vote from her national vote leaving her with 54,978,783,
and deduct Trump’s California vote from his national total, leaving him with 57,113.976, he wins in a landslide in the other 49 states, 51.3% to her 48.7%.
So, in effect, Hillary was elected president of California and Trump was elected
president of the rest of the country by a substantial margin.
This exemplifies the wisdom of the Electoral College, to prevent the vote
of any one populace state from overriding the vote of the others. Trump’s Campaign Manager, Kellyanne Conway, whose expertise is polling, saw this early on and devised
her strategy of “6 pathways to the White House”.
This meant ignoring California with its huge Democrat majority and going after the states that would give him the necessary electoral votes to win, FL, NC, MI, PA, OH, and WI.
At its lowest point since the civil war! Could this mean the end of the Democrat Party? When the afternoon of January 20, 2017 arrives, the Republican Party will have:
1) The Presidency.
2) A majority of the House of Representatives.
3) A majority of the Senate.
4) Almost two-thirds of all the governorships.
5) Total control of the statehouses in almost two-thirds of all the states. And in the near future, Republicans will be able to add:
6) A majority of the Supreme Court. The above has never happened before in American history.
Think about that and let it sink in for a moment. And it’s all because of one reason: Barack
Obama’s forcing his extreme far-left agenda on an unwilling country by executive orders, left wing judges, and obsequious bureaucrats. It’s important to pass this on. With the demand that we do away with the Electoral College and take the popular vote being pushed by the media, etc, all Americans need to know that the Electoral College is working exactly as our Founding Fathers intended.
Newt Gingrich Former Speaker Of The House On President Donald Trump:
“Donald Trump is a unique person. There are very few people who could carry the system the way he does. He campaigned with six or seven speeches a day in different states, and has boundless energy. You must think of him as one third Andrew Jackson for disruption, one third Theodore Roosevelt for just sheer human energy, and one third P. T. Barnum for selling all the time. When you put that together, you have a guy that knows where he wants to go, he doesn’t know how he is going to get there, and every day he pushes the system and pushes the system. By June or July his impact will be very profound on moving the system. His day starts at 6 AM, and he Twitters nonstop.
Trump is like this flat table top. One leg is anti left, one leg is anti stupidity, one leg is anti political correctness, and one leg is passionately deep pro American, and he can go anywhere on the table top any minute within those four boundaries, and he is not sure where he is going to go this afternoon at five P. M.
He has got great courage and is willing to take huge responsibility. He gets things done. He thinks big. He is not afraid to think big.”
Donald Trump’s Inaugural Address was seventeen minutes, shorter than most folks thought it would be. The speech was not meant to please politicians and the movers and shakers on Capitol Hill. It was a talk, that challenged the Clinton and Bush dynasties as weak and anemic. It was a speech that pleased his supporters and constituents. Ironically three former presidents from these administrations, as well as former president Jimmy Carter, were seated next to Trump as he spoke. His speech sounded similar to his campaigning, as he spoke to the people, as a Populist, caring NOT to appease the parties on either side of the aisle. His bluntness and lack of a desire to appease the leaders of the political parties, are drawing many comparisons to “Old Hickory,” Andrew Jackson. Like Jackson, Trump speaks from the heart, and never worries about fallout. My prayer is that Donald Trump NEVER becomes an appeaser, people pleaser or compromiser. In regards to Andrew Jackson, John Quincy Adams thought that Jackson’s term would lead to the dissolution of our nation and anarchy. Sound familiar? Andrew Jackson turned out to be a great president. Donald Trump is his own man, and has fooled the political prognosticators and Hollywood “elite,” who laughed at his candidacy a year and one half ago.
What Will Be The Outcome Of This Presidency?
Christian Prophecy Teacher Jonathan Cahn calls the new administration a “window.” I would agree. It is indeed miraculous that Donald Trump won the election, and the election shows the brilliance of our Founding Fathers when they established the electoral college. The popular vote would have nominated Hillary Clinton, but her base would have been limited to California, Chicago, New York, and other liberally minded municipalities. Donald Trump won thirty one states and an electoral landslide. We are blessed to have a president who advocates the Judaeo Christian ethic, and he will once again, promote the faith that this nation was founded on. The working man, the rust belt, the south, and evangelicals placed Donald Trump into office. I agree with Jonathan Cahn, and believe this is a political “Indian Summer,” with winter coming later on. The next time that ultra liberals take over this nation, I do not believe we may ever get it back. Globalism and the One World Government will one day raise its ugly head again – the Bible tells us this. Most Christians who I know, are grateful for the outcome of the election. May we pray for this presidency, and for the great principles of our faith in this nation to be espoused.
In Christ, Pastor Steve
Here is Moscow’s response to President Obama’s attempts to box in President Elect Trump, and our relationship with Russia:
Moscow (Vladimir Putin) calls Obama’s team a “bunch of geopolitical losers” engaged in a last-ditch effort to inflict the maximum possible damage to U.S.-Russia ties to make it more difficult for Trump to mend the rift.
In a clear effort to avoid risking a rapprochement with Trump, Putin showed remarkable restraint when the U.S. expelled 35 Russian diplomats over accusations of meddling in the U.S. election campaign. Instead of a usual tit-for-tat response, Putin invited U.S. diplomats’ children to a New Year’s party at the Kremlin.
Trump’s national security adviser, Michael Flynn, and Russia’s ambassador to the U.S. were in frequent contact in recent weeks, including on Dec. 29, the day Obama hit Moscow with sanctions in retaliation for election-related hacking, according to a senior U.S. official.
Moscow similarly refrained from retaliation when the White House last week added five Russians, including the chief of Russia’s top state investigative agency, to the U.S. sanctions list.
Who would ever believe that WikiLeaks and their founder Julian Assange, would provide more reliable information and truth than the 17 United States Intelligence Agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and the Department of Homeland Security? It is NOT the rank and file FBI agents and intelligence personnel who are to blame. It is the heads of their respective agencies who are appointees of President Obama. Their jobs have been politicized. Never forget how FBI Director Jim Comey let Hillary Clinton skate when she should have been indicted!
Now it appears that the stories of the Russian hacking into our 2016 presidential elections may have been exaggerated, falsified, or even totally fabricated. There is no proof whatsoever afforded from our intelligence agencies that the hacking from Russia occurred! Julian Assange and WikiLeaks suggest quite the opposite.
Important Note: Vladimir Putin refused to Personna Non Grata (PNG or expel) American Diplomats in Moscow after President Obama did the same to over thirty Russian Diplomats in Washington, D.C. This is not protocol at all. Nations almost always return the favor when their own diplomats are PNGed. Why is this? I believe that Vladimir Putin interprets Barack Obama as a buffoon, a court jester on the world stage. Putin knows that President Obama is politically motivated, and attempting to undermine Trump’s presidency even before his administration begins. We are living in a strange day when the information provided by WikiLeaks is more trustworthy than that of the FBI! Things will change when President Elect Donald Trump drains the swamp (drains the cesspool?). Trump will appoint men of integrity to lead these great Intelligence Agencies. I am looking forward to the Presidential Inauguration on January 20, 2017, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in attendance, and Franklin Graham speaking. Praise the Lord!
Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks in 2006, is permanently living in the embassy of Equador in London, England. His organization has exposed hundreds of thousands of leaks from governments and politicians throughout the world. He is charged with sexual crimes and sought asylum in this embassy, claiming there were no victims to the “crimes,” and that the government in Sweden simply trumped up the charges. Regardless of whether or not the charges are true, WikiLeaks is providing a valuable source of truth in a day of lies and corruption.
Blessings, Pastor Steve

Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel has encouraged, allowed, and enhanced massive immigration of Muslims into Europe. She is responsible for the over one million recent Islamic immigrants, mostly from Syria. There is a You Tube on this blog site that went viral in Europe, highlighting the massive immigration of Syrians into Europe. Merkel is President Barack Obama’s bookend in reference to her desire to allow huge blocks of Muslims into western nations. She and Obama are political soul mates. She KNEW that 2% of these immigrants would be radical Islamic extremists, yet allowed them! Crunch the numbers. 2% of one million is 20,000 terrorists. Angela Merkel has blood on her hands. Whether you like Donald Trump or not, he is the only leader I have heard who could care less about political correctness. He just said that “Radical Islamic terrorists must be exterminated.” It sounds like the Orkin man going after cockroaches. I personally believe that terrorists are demon possessed. Their dogma is certainly a doctrine of demons.
*** In an unrelated series of political current events to the topic of this particular article, it has just been learned that the outcome of the December 19 Electoral College vote has once again backfired on the Democrats. Instead of gaining Electoral Votes in order to oust President Elect Donald Trump, Trump has gained four more votes who went from the Democrats to the Republican. To refresh your memory, the same thing happened in the vote recounts… Trump received more votes after the recounts. When we were children, we used to call these situations cheater’s proof. ***

BERLIN (AP) — Germany must assume a truck plowing through a crowded Christmas market in Berlin was a “terrorist attack,” Chancellor Angela Merkel said Tuesday, while authorities expressed uncertainty over whether they had arrested the correct suspect.
Twelve people were killed and nearly 50 others injured when the truck drove into the popular Christmas market filled with tourists and locals outside the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church near Berlin’s Zoo station late Monday.
Police detained an asylum-seeker from Pakistan shortly afterward, but he denied involvement, Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said. The man had entered Germany on Dec. 31 last year and arrived in Berlin in February.
Berlin police chief Klaus Kandt said Tuesday it wasn’t clear whether the man detained was really the driver.
“We haven’t been able to confirm it yet,” he told reporters.
Berlin police urged people to remain “particularly vigilant” and to report “suspicious movement” to a special hotline.
In a statement widely broadcast on German television, Merkel described herself as “shocked, shaken and deeply saddened.”
“There is still a lot that we don’t know about this act with sufficient certainty,” she said. “But we must, as things stand, assume it was a terrorist attack.”
Merkel, who has been criticized for allowing in large numbers of migrants, addressed head-on the possibility that an asylum-seeker was responsible.
“I know that it would be particularly hard for us all to bear if it were confirmed that a person committed this act who asked for protection and asylum in Germany,” Merkel said. “This would be particularly sickening for the many, many Germans who work to help refugees every day and for the many people who really need our help and are making an effort to integrate in our country.”
Authorities arrested a man about 2 kilometers (1½ miles) from the crash site on suspicion of having been at the wheel of the truck. Footage showed the suspect, his head covered in a white sheet, being pushed into a police car shortly after the attack. Berlin’s Tagesspiegel newspaper reported that the man was known to police for minor crimes.
A spokesman for Berlin’s office for refugee affairs said police conducted a large-scale search overnight at a large shelter for asylum-seekers at the city’s now-defunct Tempelhof airport. Four men in their late 20s were questioned but nobody was arrested, Sascha Langenbach told The Associated Press.
Among the dead was a man in the truck, who succumbed as paramedics treated him, Berlin police spokesman Winfried Wenzel said. Police said later that the man was a Polish national, but didn’t give further details of who he was or what happened to him.
The Polish owner of the truck said he feared it may have been hijacked. Ariel Zurawski said he last spoke with the driver, his cousin, around noon, and the driver told him he was in Berlin and scheduled to unload Tuesday morning. “They must have done something to my driver,” he told TVN24.
Germany has not so far experienced any mass-casualty attacks by Islamic extremists, but has been increasingly wary since two attacks by asylum-seekers in the summer that were claimed by the Islamic State group. Five people were wounded in an ax rampage on a train near Wuerzburg and 15 in a bombing outside a bar in Ansbach, both in the southern state of Bavaria. Both attackers were killed.
Those attacks, and two others unrelated to Islamic extremism in the same weeklong period, contributed to tensions in Germany over the arrival last year of 890,000 migrants.
De Maiziere said that as far as officials know, the Islamic State group has not claimed responsibility for Monday’s attack in Berlin.
Far-right groups and a nationalist party seized on it, blaming Merkel for what had happened.
“Under the cloak of helping people Merkel has completely surrendered our domestic security,” Frauke Petry, the co-chairwoman of the Alternative for Germany party, wrote.
Manfred Weber, a member of Merkel’s conservative bloc and leader of the European Parliament’s biggest political grouping, cautioned against sweeping verdicts but said it was important to ensure that extremists didn’t enter the country.
The German government said Merkel spoke Tuesday with President Barack Obama, who expressed his condolences. In Washington, White House National Security Council spokesman Ned Price said the United States was ready to help in the investigation and response.
U.S. President-elect Donald Trump said Islamic extremists must be “eradicated from the face of the earth” and pledged to carry out that mission with all “freedom-loving partners.”
The attack came less than a month after the U.S. State Department warned that extremist groups including Islamic State and al-Qaida were focusing “on the upcoming holiday season and associated events” in Europe.
The Islamic State group and al-Qaida have both called on followers to use trucks in particular to attack crowds. On July 14, a truck plowed into Bastille Day revelers in the southern French city of Nice, killing 86 people. Islamic State claimed responsibility for that attack, which was carried out by a Tunisian living in France.
Merkel said Monday’s attack would not cause Germany to live in fear.
“Even if it’s difficult at this hour we will find the strength to live life the way we want to live it in Germany. Free, together and openly,” she said.
Associated Press writers David Rising and Geir Moulson in Berlin and Angela Charlton in Paris contributed to this report.
