Is Peruvian Mummy A Giant Toddler?

This article is written by Brian Thomas of the Institute For Creation Research (ICR). The article confirms the ancient giants that are often mentioned in the Bible. Many museums today refuse to show them because they refute evolution. Interestingly, the Spanish Conquistadors also reported giants in the same region of Peru. Pastor Steve

Is Peruvian Mummy a Giant Toddler?

by Brian Thomas, M.S. *

Some say that giant humans are too incredible to have been real and that the Bible’s references to them are fiction.

However, many extra-biblical records corroborate the existence of giants, including sober accounts from early explorers like Magellan and ancient texts like the Babylonian Epic of Gilgamesh, the Hebrew Book of Enoch, and the Book of Giants.

Now, a mummy skeleton found in Peru looks like a giant toddler. If that is indeed what it is, then it adds more weight to the idea that giants were real.

Researchers found the mummy near Cuzco, Peru. It is currently housed at the Ritos Andinos Museum, which is located far southeast of Lima. A hole in the mummy’s skull indicates that it had a fontanel, which is an area of connective tissue atop a baby’s head that later fills in with bone. Like modern babies, the skull is larger than the rest of the body. But the strangest feature is that the skull is 20 inches long, which is larger than normal adult skulls.

Lima anthropologist Pablo Bayabar examined the mummy and told the Chinese news source New Tang Dynasty Television:

Children’s heads are proportionally bigger than their bodies. Here we have two points. First, the fontanelle is open, which usually closes at 31 months. And it has molars that usually appears [sic] between approximately 13 and 19 months. So we are looking at a child under two years old with an enormous head.1

If the youngster had fully matured, he would have qualified as a giant. The skeleton has other unique features, including large eye sockets, a unique molar structure, and an unusual shelf on its chin. Ritos Andinos Museum Director Renato Davila said, “It’s 20 inches tall, which doesn’t coincide with the stereotypes of humans.”1 Some anthropologists are reluctant to call it human.2

Evolution maintains that humans evolved from smaller, ape-like ancestors. But according to the Bible, humans were created in the image of God, and men since then have descended from Adam.3 The Bible also teaches that giants existed, further contrasting with the standard evolutionary stereotype of human history.

The book of Numbers says that a handful of Israelites under Moses’ leadership reconnoitered the land of Canaan and reported their discoveries:

And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.4

Since the Bible refers to giants, it stands to reason that other historical records and artifacts would also testify to their existence.5 And a giant toddler mummy appears to be just such an artifact confirming that the history related in Scripture is trustworthy.

UPDATE: Later information revealed that the “20 inches long” figure was inaccurate and that this toddler was of a normal human size. Its elongated head may have resulted from head-shape altering practices.

Ancient Tablet Reveals New Details About Noah’s Ark Prototype

Below is another article from Fox News on the new story of the universal flood. It reveals the flood story to be in the Egyptian archives from 4,000 years ago! If you do the math, you will find out that 4,000 years ago is when the flood occurred! If the flood really happened (and it did) then one would expect its’ account to be in the annals of nearly all major ancient civilizations….and it is! Forget the speculation of the researchers who see this as just another “story.” One would think that common sense would dictate that a story found within all ancient civilizations would have a strong element of truth behind it all! But this is not the case with most “scientists” who would better be called speculators…… They usually despise the story of the flood, because its’ truth would mean that God is involved in our history very recently, and we are accountable to Him and are found wanting.

Ancient tablet reveals new details about Noah’s Ark prototype

The 4000 year old clay tablet containing the story of the Ark and the flood stands on display at the British Museum in London during the launch of the book ‘The Ark Before Noah’ by Irving Finkel, curator in charge of cuneiform clay tablets at the British Museum. (AP)

It was a vast boat that saved two of each animal and a handful of humans from a catastrophic flood.

But forget all those images of a long vessel with a pointy bow — the original Noah’s Ark, new research suggests, was round.

A recently deciphered 4,000-year-old clay tablet from ancient Mesopotamia — modern-day Iraq — reveals striking new details about the roots of the Old Testament tale of Noah. It tells a similar story, complete with detailed instructions for building a giant round vessel known as a coracle — as well as the key instruction that animals should enter “two by two.”

The tablet went on display at the British Museum on Friday, and soon engineers will follow the ancient instructions to see whether the vessel could actually have sailed.

It’s also the subject of a new book, “The Ark Before Noah,” by Irving Finkel, the museum’s assistant keeper of the Middle East and the man who translated the tablet.

Finkel got hold of it a few years ago, when a man brought in a damaged tablet his father had acquired in the Middle East after World War II. It was light brown, about the size of a mobile phone and covered in the jagged cuneiform script of the ancient Mesopotamians.

It turned out, Finkel said Friday, to be “one of the most important human documents ever discovered.”

“It was really a heart-stopping moment — the discovery that the boat was to be a round boat,” said Finkel, who sports a long gray beard, a ponytail and boundless enthusiasm for his subject. “That was a real surprise.”

And yet, Finkel said, a round boat makes sense. Coracles were widely used as river taxis in ancient Iraq and are perfectly designed to bob along on raging floodwaters.

“It’s a perfect thing,” Finkel said. “It never sinks, it’s light to carry.”

Other experts said Finkel wasn’t simply indulging in book-promotion hype. David Owen, professor of ancient Near Eastern studies at Cornell University, said the British Museum curator had made “an extraordinary discovery.”

Elizabeth Stone, an expert on the antiquities of ancient Mesopotamia at New York’s Stony Brook University, said it made sense that ancient Mesopotamians would depict their mythological ark as round.

“People are going to envision the boat however people envision boats where they are,” she said. “Coracles are not unusual things to have had in Mesopotamia.”

The tablet records a Mesopotamian god’s instructions for building a giant vessel — two-thirds the size of a soccer field in area — made of rope, reinforced with wooden ribs and coated in bitumen.

Finkel said that on paper (or stone) the boat-building orders appear sound, but he doesn’t yet know whether it would have floated. A television documentary due to be broadcast later this year will follow attempts to build the ark according to the ancient manual.

The flood story recurs in later Mesopotamian writings including the “Epic of Gilgamesh.” These versions lack the technical instructions — cut out, Finkel believes, because they got in the way of the storytelling.

“It would be like a Bond movie where instead of having this great sexy red car that comes on, somebody starts to tell you about how many horsepower it’s got and the pressure of the tires and the capacity of the boot (trunk),” he said. “No one cares about that. They want the car chase.”

Finkel is aware his discovery may cause consternation among believers in the Biblical story. When 19th-century British Museum scholars first learned from cuneiform tablets that the Babylonians had a flood myth, they were disturbed by its striking similarities to the story of Noah.

“Already in 1872 people were writing about it in a worried way — What does it mean that Holy Writ appears on this piece of Weetabix?” he joked, referring to a cereal similar in shape to the tablet.

Finkel has no doubts.

“I’m sure the story of the flood and a boat to rescue life is a Babylonian invention,” he said.

He believes the tale was likely passed on to the Jews during their exile in Babylon in the 6th century B.C. And he doesn’t think the tablet provides evidence the ark described in the Bible existed. He said it’s more likely that a devastating real flood made its way into folk memory, and has remained there ever since.

“I don’t think the ark existed — but a lot of people do,” he said. “It doesn’t really matter. The Biblical version is a thing of itself and it has a vitality forever.

“The idea that floods are caused by sin is happily still alive among us,” he added, pointing out a local councilor in England who made headlines recently for saying Britain’s recent storms were caused by the legalization of gay marriage.

“Had I known it, it would have gone in the preface of the book,” Finkel said.

‘The Ark Before Noah’ – curator Irving Finkel decodes the story of the Flood

***********************************************************

The “flood story” entered the Bible because it really happened. Major civilizations all over the planet record this cataclysmic event. The most ancient of civilizations, the Sumerians, record the story through the Epic of Gilgamesh, and it is remarkably similar to the Biblical account of Genesis 6-9. The Sumerian account was written first since they lived before Moses wrote Genesis, not because it is more accurate! Actually, the Epic of Gilgamesh is slightly watered down (pun intended) since it was passed down by tradition and not inspired by God. This exciting news of a 4,000 year old story of the flood from Egypt, was written on the heals of the flood which happened 4,000 years ago! This only adds more credibility to the validity of the Biblical story of a universal flood. This is indeed exciting news……..

1500 Year Old Ancient Byzantine Mosaic With Symbol Of Jesus Uncovered In Israel

Ancient Church Mosaic With Symbol of Jesus Uncovered in Israel

This Byzantine mosaic was discovered during salvage excavations in southern Israel.

Update: The article was updated on Jan. 23 at 9:55 a.m. ET to include comments from an archaeologist at the site.

Archaeologists in Israel have uncovered intricate mosaics on the floor of a 1,500-year-old Byzantine church, including one that bears a Christogram surrounded by birds.

The ruins were discovered during a salvage excavation ahead of a construction project in Aluma, a village about 30 miles (50 kilometers) south of Tel Aviv, the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) announced Wednesday (Jan. 22). Excavator Davida Eisenberg Degen said the team used an industrial digger to probe a mound at the site, and through a 10-foot (3 meters) hole, they could see the white tiles of an ancient mosaic.

Much of the church was revealed during excavations over the past month. The basilica was part of a local Byzantine settlement, but the archaeologists suspect it also served as a center of Christian worship for neighboring communities because it was next to the main road running between the ancient seaport city of Ashkelon in the west and Beit Guvrin and Jerusalem in the east. [See Images of a Byzantine Mosaic Discovered in Israel]

“Usually a Byzantine village had a church, but the size of this church and its placement on the road makes it more important,” Degen told LiveScience.

Remarkable finds

This mosaic found in an ancient Byzantine church contains a Christogram, or a monogram of Christ.

The excavators plan to keep working on the site for another week, but one of the most remarkable finds so far was a mosaic containing a Christogram, or a “type of monogram of the name of Jesus,” Degen said.

At the time, Byzantine Christians wouldn’t have put crosses on their mosaic floors so as to not step on the symbol of Christ, Degen explained. The Christogram in the mosaic may look like a cross, but it’s actually more like a “chi rho” symbol, which puts together the first two captial letters in the Greek word for Christ, and often looks like an X superimposed on a P. There is an alpha and omega (the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet) on either side of the chi rho, which is another Christian symbol, as Christ was often described as the “”the beginning and the end.” Four birds also decorate the mosaic, and two of them are holding up a wreath to the top of the chi rho.

Inside the 72-by-39-foot (22-by-12-meter) basilica, archaeologists also found marble pillars and an open courtyard paved with a white mosaic floor, said Daniel Varga, director of the IAA’s excavations.

Just off the courtyard, in the church’s narthex, or lobby area, there is “a fine mosaic floor decorated with colored geometric designs” as well as a “twelve-row dedicatory inscription in Greek containing the names ‘Mary’ and ‘Jesus’, and the name of the person who funded the mosaic’s construction,” Varga said in a statement.

The mosaics in the main hall, or nave, meanwhile, are decorated with vine tendrils in the shape of 40 medallions, one of which contains the Christogram. Many of the other medallions contain botanical designs and animals such as a zebras, peacocks, leopards and wild boars, the excavators said. Three contain inscriptions commemorating two heads of the local regional church named Demetrios and Herakles.

Other discoveries

The archaeologists found traces of later occupation on top of the church, including early Islamic walls and Ottoman garbage pits. (Aluma is located near the Ottoman and later Palestinian village of Hatta.) The excavations also revealed Byzantine glass vessels and a pottery workshop for making amphoras, cooking pots, kraters, bowls and oil lamps, IAA officials said.

To avoid building over ancient sites, archaeologists are often brought in for salvage digs ahead of construction projects like this one, sometimes yielding stunning discoveries; for instance, a “cultic” temple and traces of a 10,000-year-old house were discovered at Eshtaol west of Jerusalem in preparation for the widening of a road. And during recent expansions of the main road connecting Jerusalem to Tel Aviv, called Highway 1, excavators found a carving of a phallus from the Stone Age, a ritual building from the First Temple era and animal figurines dating back 9,500 years.

Regarding the new discoveries, the IAA plans to remove the mosaic for display at a regional museum or visitors’ center, and the rest of the site will be covered back up.

The Ultimate “Bait And Switch”

Obamacare has been in the news for years. Some regard it as the legacy of our president. Its’ purpose was allegedly to provide affordable healthcare to those who could not afford it. Well, those who cannot afford healthcare are not interested in Obamacare. However, do not despair over Obamacare, because there is a market! Yes indeed, those who lost their health coverage BECAUSE of Obamacare are the ones signing up for it! This “healthcare” was never anything more than a political ploy and “bait and switch” by our president in order to consolidate more federal/governmental control and regulations over the populace of the United States of America. Obamacare has destroyed countless thousands of jobs. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is given control over this “health insurance.” Comforting, eh? President Obama is trampling on our Constitution, Bill of Rights, free enterprise system, and destroying small businesses who cannot, of course, afford to give these health insurance packages to their employees. The informed among us have known that this was Obama’s goal all along. One could not write out a better blue print and script that would destroy a democratic and free nation, and replace it with a governmental controlled socialistic dictatorship. Obama has done everything within his power to destroy our economy, security, right to bear arms, morality, military, unity, and the fundamental principles upon which this nation was built. It has always been Obama’s desire to “change” [His campaign slogan, remember?] America through trickery and chicanery. He fools the naïve masses through his eloquent rhetoric, lies, and empty promises. Pray that the Lord would thwart the nefarious ambitions of this Marxist, pro Islamic despot. “All it takes for evil to prevail, is for a few good men to do nothing.” Edmund Burke

Greek Word Study, Part IV, Word Focus:

51)pseudoprophetes- false prophets/ “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” (1 John 4:1)
There is an unusual emphasis in the New Testament about false prophets. The Greek word pseudoprophetes appears 11 times and has no corresponding word in the Old Testament.
Of the 298 usages of “prophet” in the Hebrew scriptures, eight of them are connected to “false” prophets, and only in relation to visions and dreams. In the New Testament, the pseudoprophetes are workers of “miracles” and “signs and wonders.”
John gives the warning to “try the spirits” because many false prophets are now here. Prior to Christ’s coming, the false “dreamer” (Deuteronomy 13:1-5) would readily be exposed when his prophecy did not come about. Such a false prophet was to be executed!
But the prophets of the “last time” (1 John 2:18) will perform great wonders (Matthew 24:24) and can seduce…even the elect” (Mark 13:22).
Here’s the problem: They come from among Christians! Peter warns us in 2 Peter 2:1-3 in five ways:
1)They come from a “Christian” background.
2)They deny the biblical Lord Jesus in some way.
3)They will become very popular, especially with emotionally motivated people.
4)They will degrade doctrines of the Bible.
5)They will stimulate greed to attract followers.
We are warned to test every one of them, and when they do not abide in the doctrine of Christ, we are to reject their teaching and not have any fellowship with them (2 John 9-11). They are dangerous (Matthew 7:15)!

The History And Fall Of The Roman Empire

In his classic work “The History and Fall of the Roman Empire,” Edward Gibbon observed the following:
The five marks of the Roman decaying culture were:
1)Concern with displaying affluence instead of building wealth.
2)Obsession with sex and perversions of sex.
3)Art becomes freakish and sensationalistic instead of creative and original.
4)Widening disparity between the very rich and very poor.
5)Increased demand to live off the state.
It seems America is displaying every sign of a culture on its way out. Perhaps most alarming of the marks cited by Gibbon is the rapidity with which sexual perversion has become accepted in the United States. Homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality were behaviors and mindsets that were viewed as deviant and perverse only a few decades ago. They were first accepted as alternate lifestyles and now are deemed normal by the culture at large. Very few sexual taboos remain in America. One behavior, still verboten is pedophilia. Yet seeds of tolerance are currently being planted that, if they come to fruition, will result in sex between adults and children being accepted as normal. B4U-ACT is the perverted think tank that is greasing the skid for this debauchery. They rationalize their insanity through “…hormonal influences, genetics, evolutionary processes, negative socialization, poor parental relationships, and childhood sexual experiences.” They do not yet condone adults cavorting with children, mainly because it is illegal. Just as homosexuality was pushed in the late 1960s as a group that was misunderstood and unjustly persecuted, the same is gaining momentum in the realm of pedophilia. Tolerance and acceptance is in their crosshairs. If that happens, America will rapidly join Rome as just another culture for historians to study. [Much of this material came from Kelly Boggs, a weekly columnist for the Baptist Press, director of the Louisiana Baptist’s Convention office of public affairs, and editor of the Baptist Message (www.baptistmessage.com), newsjournal of the Louisiana Baptist Convention.]

An appropriate quotation that would best sum up the aforementioned article would be the following: “The only thing we learn from history is that we never learn from history.” –Friedrich Hegel

Why is this? Because of the sinful and fallen nature of man. All cultures, nations and empires that start out right, eventually deteriorate and go the wrong way. The same can even be said about ancient Israel’s rebellion against God! Blessings, Pastor Steve
