Fat Tuesday Evangelism

Are there words that can accurately describe the hypocrisy of the Roman Catholic Church?  They endorse gluttony, drunken revelry, and a party hearty atmosphere up until Fat Tuesday in a Mardi Gras setting, because tomorrow is lent, and we must “get holy” as we prepare for Easter.  Anyone who would endorse such a lifestyle is a false prophet.  Christians who are born from above do not compartmentalize our faith, but desire to live it 24/7/365!  [Millennials claim they desire sincerity and commitment in the Christian faith, i.e. a demonstration of a people who truly live it out.  They should be vocal about this hypocrisy indeed.]  If you can rationalize your “faith,” and switch gears from Fat Tuesday to Lent, without this duplicity bothering your conscience, you may not be saved.  As always, the scriptures say it best:

Romans 6 King James Version (KJV)
1What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.

Today, thousands of Roman Catholics marked the last day before the Lenten season by celebrating “Fat Tuesday,” a day of feasting and revelry. Tomorrow, even more will start out the Lenten Season by attending an Ash Wednesday Service. A priest will mark their foreheads with ash to remind them of the dust from whence they came and signify their participation in a period of fasting and desire to do penance. Christians should not miss this opportunity to start conversations about religious practices with their Roman Catholic friends and ultimately share with them the true gospel of Jesus Christ, contrasting it with the dead, empty ceremonial religion of the Roman Catholic Church.
“Whenever you fast, do not put on a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they neglect their appearance so that they will be noticed by men when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face so that your fasting will not be noticed by men, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
