John MacArthur Calls SBC Prez, Ed Litton “Lazy,” “Incompetent,” “Fraud,” Amid Plagiarism Scandal

Southern Baptist Seminary leaders (presidents, former presidents and professors) have made the same allegations but nothing happens as a result. There is no doubt that Ed Litton is a referendum on the direction of this Protestant denomination. Sad but true. Exposing sin is not for pansies, and since the SBC remains silent and inactive about confronting wrongs, John MacArthur will speak up and he never minces words. Many Christians would rather place their heads in the sand and pretend this is not reality. The Southern Baptist Convention has become very good at this, hence there is now enough egg on their face to feed a hungry lumberjack. (i.e. Russell Moore, Beth Moore, J.D. Greear, Critical Race Theory (CRT), Woke Social “Gospel,” Postmodernism, Liberalism, Ed Litton, exonerating sodomites, tearing Paige Patterson’s life and career apart and taking his pension away, forcing vaccines on our International Mission Board (IMB) missionaries, sex scandals, etc., etc.) Pastor Steve <><

Ed Litton, the Southern Baptist president who has been caught up in a plagiarism scandal that was exposed shortly after his election in June but dates as far back as 2013, has admitted that he sometimes does not study to prepare his own sermons at all but just preaches what his “preaching team” prepares.

Litton took heat a while back when a video surfaced of him admitting that he “used to lie” about sermon preparation and that he used to tell people he spent far more time on it than he actually did. Litton has already openly admitted to using a sermon prep team, but until now, in a recently surfaced audio clip, he would have had us believe that he always at least had a hand in that sermon prep.

Reformation CharlotteCapstone ReportProtestiaFounders, and several other blogs along with various outspoken godly Christians on social media including Tom BuckGabe Hughes, and James White, and many others, have been repeatedly sounding the alarm on the newly-elected Southern Baptist president’s qualifications as both an elder and a leader of the denomination in the midst of his serial plagiarism scandal.

Now, John MacArthur joins the chorus and, obviously in reference to Ed Litton, John MacArthur says that a man who doesn’t prepare his own sermons–the way Litton did not–is incompetent, lazy, and a fraud only acting the part.

Reformation Charlotte Releases New Documentary on Litton-Greear Plagiarism Scandal

In response to the plagiarism scandal that has been hitting the Southern Baptist Convention like a storm, Reformation Charlotte has released a mini-documentary detailing the entire timeline, lies, cover-ups, and lack of action on behalf of the entire denomination. The refusal to hold Litton accountable for his sins is a flagrant slap in the face to the gospel–and this documentary proves beyond a shadow of any doubt that politics plays a supreme role over the gospel with these gutless leaders.

The documentary is titled Counsel of the Wicked, a nod to Psalm 1:1.

Southern Baptist Convention ~ June 12-15, 2016 ~ Part 12

Southern Baptist Convention   ~   June  14-15, 2016    ~    St. Louis

************

Business Highlights:

1)Golden Gate Seminary in San Francisco underwent a name change to Gateway Seminary.

2)Women should not be drafted.  Women may enlist in the armed forces.  That decision is entirely up to each individual.

3)Southern Baptists voted to NOT endorse the displaying of the Confederate Flag.  It offends some of our black brethren and others.  Retired Judge Paul Pressler from Texas who always comes to the Southern Baptist Convention, wanted to address this issue.  He was not afforded the opportunity to speak and as a result, he was very angry.  James Merritt won the moment with the following quotation that rang with clarity to all who heard it:

“All the Confederate Flags in the world are not worth one soul of any race.”

4)The Southern Baptist Convention voted to support Israel.  A vocal minority who believed in “replacement theology,” expressed their viewpoint that Israel is no more special in God’s eyes than any other country.  [Replacement Theology is a view held by a minority of evangelicals.  They believe that God is finished with using the nation of Israel in His plan, and that the Lord only works through the church now.  A thorough exegesis of the scriptures and end times prophecy reveals this viewpoint to be false].  Their spokesman even claimed he was an orthodox Jew from Israel.  Nonetheless, the SBC voted overwhelmingly to support Israel.

5)There should be a sensitivity given to Gays and the LGBT, yet it is vitally important that they acknowledge their sin, prayerfully leading to their repentance.

6)Several budget items were presented from the SBC Executive Committee, and “rubber stamped” by the messengers who came to the convention.  There were 7,321 registered messengers at the 2016 convention.

7)Seminary Update:  “Out of the ten largest seminaries in America, six of them are Southern Baptist.”  Paige Patterson  Another interesting fact is that Conservative Seminaries are thriving, while secular Seminaries are dying.  Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS) in Louisville, Kentucky, has over 5,000 students – the most pastoral students EVER in one school at one time.

Voting For The President Of The Southern Baptist Convention

The Three Candidates:

1)David Crosby from First Baptist Church of New Orleans, Louisiana, endorsed by Fred Luter.

2)Steve Gaines from Bellevue Baptist Church, Memphis, Tennessee, endorsed by Johnny Hunt.

3)J.D. Greer from Summit Church, Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, endorsed by Jimmy Scoggins.

Presidential Vote:  After 2 votes, Steve Gaines was three votes short of the needed votes.  There was to be a third vote.  Greer conceded to Gaines, while Gaines later stated he was going to concede to Greer.  Steve Gaines was elected since he was a bit higher in the votes from the last vote.  It was a work of grace and unity for these candidates to concede to each other.  Steve Gaines is our new president.

J.D. Greer and Steve Gaines were an interesting contrast.  Steve Gaines represents a classic flagship SBC church, following Adrian Rogers as their pastor.  J.D. Greer is oriented towards the millenial generation, and incredibly, had a jihad declared on him while he was serving as a missionary overseas.  His picture was displayed before radical Islamics, and a death warrant was placed upon him.  That is why I voted for him.

Synopsis Of The Pastor’s Conference And Southern Baptist Convention ~ June 12-15, 2016

This is a brief review of the annual Southern Baptist Pastor’s Conference and Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), with several detailed articles to follow.  The theme was Awaken America, Reach The World.  Agree, Unite, Pray.  The Pastor’s Conference featured music from local Christian choirs and ensembles, and from the well known contemporary Christian group “Passion.”  Some of the main points touched on were the fact that there are less Southern Baptist churches and less baptisms each year.  (Southern Baptists are still the largest Protestant Denomination in America with over 46,000 churches, but we are going backwards).  The good news is that there are more church plants than ever.  The need for unity and evangelism were stressed, with prayer as the foundation.  Simplicity was asserted, realizing that the Holy Spirit, and NOT programs, is the key to success with the Lord.  A multifaceted strategy to reach millennials and diverse groups of ethnics is of great importance, especially since one in five Southern Baptists is from a minority ethnic group!  Speakers emphasized the fact that we need to reach the lost, and not quibble over minor theological differences.

The atmosphere of the convention was very peaceful.  St. Louis is a bastion of conservatism, featuring well over 40,000 Boy Scouts in the area, many advancing to Eagle Scout, and performing good works in the community.  There were absolutely no picketers or protesters present, which was a pleasant surprise.  One gentleman with a megaphone was speaking to the Southern Baptist pastors as they entered the conference, and challenging them to lead their congregations in evangelism and soul winning.  I appreciated his words.  He was spot on.

A summary of the business at hand featured a large variety of subjects.  The resolutions that were brought forth from the executive committee were passed, usually by unanimous votes following discussion and/or amendment(s).  The resolutions involved the LGBT community, the Confederate Flag, and several other topics- details will be shared in future entries.  Tremendous grace was displayed when the new SBC president was elected.  Three candidates originally contested for this office, and the final two, Steve Gaines of Belleview Baptist Church in Tennessee and J.D. Greer of Summit Church in Durham, North Carolina, were virtually tied without a clear winner.  Grace won the day; details to follow.

It was truly a peaceful convention. filled with a spirit of unity.
