Outline of the book of Romans: Sin, Salvation, Sanctification, Soul Winning, Service.
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
A person must become lost before they can become saved. One does not need a Savior until they know that they are a sinner. We are all sinners, and fall far short of the glory of God. The two above verses plainly tell us that we all stand condemned. Many men live all of their lives, never acknowledging the fact they are sinful and in desperate need of God’s grace.
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Jesus gave Himself for us while we were in our sinful state. The Just for the unjust. God knew from eternity past that we would fall into sin and already provided a Savior! Sin entered the world and because of sin, there is death- both physical and spiritual death. Christ’s death on Mount Calvary is the only panacea for our dilemma. We must place our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
This is the verse used on the famous Florida Southern Baptist Life/Death witnessing cards. All we have to do in order to go to hell is absolutely nothing. The Bible tells us that the wages of sin is death. By default, we will miss heaven if we ignore God’s plan of salvation. God gave us the gift of His Son Jesus Christ. We can receive eternal life if we take advantage of God’s free gift. We simply say: “Father, I know I am a sinner and can do nothing on my own to inherit eternal life. But I place my faith in your only begotten Son Jesus Christ who died for me and atoned for my sins.”
Romans 10:9-10, 13 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Our belief in Christ makes us righteous in God’s sight! It does not make sense to me, except that God must love us more than we can imagine. We cannot totally fathom His grace. Whosoever shall call upon the Lord shall be saved. Thank you Jesus.
